I want to comment on my dads "acid dipped" hands The story of the radiation damage is (in my opinion) how it happened.

He had this light colored skin in spots all over his body, his legs, feet, back, chest, including around his genital area. If this was purposely done to remove fingerprints (with acid, or whatever) I would think that it would only be on his hands.

I saw a picture of your dad with those spots visiable on his hands and arms I believe, my first impression of them was that it was skin pigmentation disorder called vitiligo which is Smooth, white patches in the skin. Vitiligo is caused by the loss of pigment-producing cells in the skin (melanocytes). The white patches are very sensitive to the sun and the person usually tends to cover up when in the direct sunlight.
