Joanne I mean no offense, but I named the knife as an Imperial Texas Toothpick in an earlier post. I am an avid knife collector myself (not just Imperials) and so I recognized this knife right away. As I said before, the blade is made from carbon steel, this particular steel bends before it will break. BTW, The bolsters are nickle silver and are not always hollow. If Dennis would look at the base of the blade and tell me the name and or number I am sure I could tell you all much more about this knife. Also as I said before, the handles are composite.

No offense taken, Link. I do realize that you were the one to first identify the knife. I just always try to have our info collaborated by "outside" experts.

Dennis, can you tell us the model name or number that's on the base of the blade?

Here are a couple of photo's of Jack and his brother Don who lived in Riverside at the time Cheri Bates was murdered. The first photo is 1988, and the second one was taken in 1989.

Boy, every time I see a photo of Jack the first thing that comes to mind is how all of the descriptions of Zodiac refer to a Husky, Stocky, Heavy set, Round Belly, Rolly Polly Man..etc. Every photo I see brings these natural descriptions to mind as I look at Jack. If he is not the Zodiac--and that is a very real possibility-the physical resemblance is amazingly creepy!

Thank you for posting the pictures, Dennis. Could you clarify for everyone which is Jack and which is the brother in each picture? Also, is Don still living?

Don is wearing a blue shirt in both photo's. Don passed away in 2003, in Sacramento California...

I'm trying to find an old Riverside, CA telephone directory from 1966. If there was a listing for Don Tarrance, that would be definitive proof that he did live in Riverside at the time of the Bates murder. I contacted the webmaster of this site: http://www.oldtelephonebooks.com/city/Riverside/California, and the oldest Riverside directory he has is from 1975 and Don's not listed. I asked him to keep me in mind if he should obtain any older Riverside phone books. Does anyone know of any other way I could obtain an old Riverside phone directory?

Quote:
Dear Ms. Stone,

No, there is no Tarrance listed in my oldest Riverside, CA telephone book. (It's the 1975 issue; the 1968, 1969, and 1974 ones have been sold.) The book has two white pages sections, one for Riverside, and one for Corona and Norco. The closest name to Tarrance is F. Woodrow Tarrant.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Feel free to ask if there's anything more I can do.

Yours, Gwillim Law

I'm trying to find old telephone books for Riverside, California from around 1966. I see that you have a Riverside phone directory from 1974 for sale. Could you please tell me if there is a listing for a Don or Donald Tarrance? If the book DOES contain that listing, I would like to purchase the directory.

Update on the Riverside phone directory: I found a company called Spyral Search that has old phone directories on CD. They didn't have one for 1966 Riverside, but they did have one for 1965 Riverside. I ordered it and it came in the mail today... no Donald Tarrance. Rats! I'd love to know where in Riverside Donald lived.

Someone may have already mentioned this...I am a little slow sometimes...but here are some weird coincidences:

http://www.zodiackiller.com/BatesDNA.html

One of the prime suspects was Bob Barnett..not his "real" name...

But check this out!!!

http://thezodiackiller.digitalzones.com/16.jpg

anyone notice that Barnett is the moms name?????????????

What are the chances? It's freaking me out!!! Anyone else think its weird? Was Jack perhaps questioned in the murders?
